Ok, I still don't have some fun quip about life, or what this blog is about to put here. Someday - perhaps tomorrow perhaps two years from tomorrow - I will figure it out. Until then, see my randomness below.

October

Warning: because pop-up blockers and blogger don't get along, this is a second blog. The first cannot be replicated, and was (of coarse) better!

With the beginning of the semester comes a terror so frightening it can be called only one thing - THE LAST MINUTE PLANS THAT SPRING UP REGARDING QUEER AWARENESS MONTH! I know, from having done this for the last 5 years, that during the month of September any combination of the following events will happen. (1) Someone will drop the ball on an event that is supposed to happen in 2 days leaving me holding the bag. (2) A performer will call with a problem with the payment, contract, or some other tiny detail that was overlooked until the night they show up.. or better yet.. they'll be late. (3) Someone will call, email, and/or randomly find me with a great idea for a brown-bag session that they want to do NEXT WEEK. (If the time is any shorter I draw and quarter them on the spot) (4) Or in general, some idiot will schedule the homecoming game for the weekend after National Coming Out day, making any programming I wanted to do for that Friday completely meaningless. (but hey.. we get to march in a parade!?!?)

I think someone needs to make a horror movie about this. I have seen people run screaming from what seems to be the ever increasing amount of things that NEED done to book a programmer. (Wouldn't it be nice if all ya had to do is call them and write a check?) The thought of even maybe having to say anything to more than 5 friends causes some people to shiver with abject terror. We could even paraphrase the Exercism of Emily Rose... "There are no injections against the [activism]."
